Watkin Owen Llanrwst Longcase clock Circa 1777 - 80 . ( Unseen ) .

This stunning piece is not only a wonderful example of a Watkin Owen Llanrwst longcase clock with it's trademark case , 5 pillar movement and interlocking lifting mechanisium it's painting of the Llanrwst bridge on it's rolling moon makes it a one of a kind the like of which in 50 years we have yet to see .
The works in perfect working order is of such good quality with wonderfully turned pillars and as mentioned before of the 5 pilar varity most clocks can quite happily work just the 4 pillars but the 5th adds extra stability on the works preventing any twisting or movement through the centre of the works this shows the extra care and attention to detail  that goes into an Owen clock .
The case starts from the top with beautiful swan necks  inlaid caps flanking a sweet carving of a face above an arched door flanked by reeded columns with brass caps .
The main case has a long door with shaped profile and reeded quarter cut columns with turned caps flanking it .
The base has a typical Llanrwst Owen slap on panel centre with cantered corners stand all standing on Ogee feet .
The clock is really a sight to behold the face being beautifully engraved and the rolling moon displaying the world famous view of the bridge here in Llanrwst with Ty hwnt ir Bont  on the far side of the river and a horse and carriage going over the bridge being followed by a single rider who we like to call the highwayman .
The opposite panel shows the view of Rhuddlan with Pengern Hall in the distance .
