Georgian Mahogany Serpentine front Dressing Chest . Circa 1780-90 .
Here we have a stunning Mahogany Serpentine chest of drawers both top and drawers edged with a Walnut cross banding .
The top drawer being that of a dressing drawer with retractable brushing slid with a green baize and internal compartments some with lids and a removable mirror .
During the Georgian period a dressing chest would be seen as the height of fashion . The ability to conceal ones clothes such as socks , underwear and other items not normally hung up in such an elegant item while at the same time preparing ones self was highly prized , this chest would have been both practical and a joy to see .
