  19th Century High Back Yew and Elm Windsor Chairs Circa 1820-30 .

The Windsor Chair takes its name from the English town of Windsor, where it originated around 1710. 

 A popular type of wooden chair constructed of turned (shaped on a lathe), slender spindles that are socketed into a solid, saddle-shaped wooden seat Those spindles extending downward form the legs and those extending upward form the back and arm rests.

This matching pair of beautiful chairs show all the hallmarks of a good quality chair maker the bobbin turned yew wood legs with tulip tips lead up to a crinoline stretcher which helps shape the splay of the legs .

The seat being of Elm has wonderful figuring which gives beauty and strength to the defined saddle which allows for comfort combine this with the turned bobbin arm supports , shaped and pierced, gorgeous spindles and fabulous colour give us these stunningly practical chairs which wouldn't seem out of place in any home .
