A wonderful typical 5 pillar movement with a dial by Wilson of Birmingham this clock holds all the hallmarks of a good quality longcase clock by the now world renowned clock maker Watkin Owen of Llanrwst .
Originally taking over the mantle of Llanrwst clockmaker from his Father John Owen on his death Watkin began making clocks around 1776 this clock dating to Circa 1790-95 shows Watkin Owens honed skills off beautifully taking his Fathers designs and refining them to perfection such as the interlocking lifting mechanism and producing clocks to this day that are still highly prized and sought after .
The hood having an arched pediment over blocked freize leading to glazed door that displays the Wilson dial fronted works which strikes on the bell and is of 8 day duration flanked by turned columns . The main body of the clock has a long door with shaped profile, flanked by quarter cut reeded columns above moulded waste all this sits on a shamphered base with a slap on panel profile matching the door on ogee bracket feet .
