John Hauksbee London Circa 1700 .
Here we have a beautiful brass dial 8 day Walnut longcase clock by John Hauksbee . Hauksbee was a well know clock and intsrument maker of the late 17th Century his ability to creat such a stunning clock just goes to show not only his quality but also that of his engraver and casemaker . The clock is a strong elegant clock with a narrow body and long door Its flat topped hood has blind fret above the arched dialed door and blind fret sound panels on the hood sides the door is flanked on either side by fixed turned columns with brass caps . The centre of the case having long door with moulding is in a beautiful burr Walnut above a wonderfully moulded waist leading down fo a square base standing on a plynth . The colour of the clock is a warm rich colour and the dial has a beautifully engraved center and edging .
