Anglo-Indian Padouk Work/Writing Box on Stand . Circa 1830 .
An early 19th Century Padouk and Ivory marquetry combination work and writing box the hinged cover enclosing an inset velvet lined writing surface . It has a lift out try and an arrangement of open and lidded compartments and provisions for wells with both sewing and writing accoutrements , flanked by a pair of demi-lune candle stands . The birdcage under-frame inlaid with lozenges , concentric bands with geometric arrangement of stylised petals standing on a boldly turned carved column carved with lotus with a triform base and bold lion form feet .
